What We Believe
God’s Story, Our Church
We thank God that He’s not finished writing our story – we are honored to follow wherever He leads next. First Church has been a welcoming environment for people of every background and economic group since the 1855 Our Mission is clear – We exist to follow Jesus, grow together, and serve our community
We are a church in the Methodist tradition – Wesleyan in our biblical beliefs, evangelical in our faith, and passionate about seeing God work in and through His people. We desire to be a church family who supports one another and reaches out beyond our walls with the love of Christ.
Located near the Courthouse in St. Johns we invite you to join us. Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or looking for a church to call home, you’ll find a place to belong here. We offer engaging worship and biblical teaching that is relatable to all ages. We want to help you take your next step closer to Jesus.
“From there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.” Deuteronomy 4:29
Because People Matter
Why do we do what we do? The answer is simple. We believe that people matter. It is the heartbeat of God, and so it must be our heartbeat as well. We strive to love people and make sure that their life tells the story of God’s redemption, mercy, and grace. It is our desire to do that in three areas:
Experience – we hope to create an environment for people to experience the real, tangible presence of God through worship, song, prayer, messages, and more.
Connection – Our growth as a Christ-follower is tied to connecting with other believers. We were not created to live life alone. Being together for worship, study, and outreach is designed for community and doing life together.
Service – We take the unique gifts that God has given each of us and we connect it with opportunities to serve others in the local church and in our community.
